Designing Digital Learning in Schools using Robots

Robots attended class along with teachers in the Designing Digital Learning in Schools (DDLS) graduate program. These teachers had the opportunity to meet Sphero. They were able to build thinking and problem-solving skills by completing a range of missions and then to use those programming skills to teach their Sphero tricks. They had a great time and learned through direct experience how powerful learning can be when robots come to class.
Students in the Learning Technologies in Schools program can select from two concentrations:
- Designing Digital Learning in Schools (DDLS)—This cohort concentration uses a blend of online and face-to-face instruction to prepare teachers to design digital learning experiences for today’s classrooms and to assume leadership roles in implementing, supervising, managing, and integrating technology in schools. Candidates have the option to earn one of two graduate certificates or a Master’s in Education.
- Blended and Online Learning in Schools (BOLS)—This fully-online concentration prepares teachers to effectively teach in learning environments that blend online and traditional instruction or that are fully online. This concentration prepares teachers to design blended and online learning environments that meet the needs of today’s students and schools. Candidates have the option to earn a graduate certificate and/or a Master’s in Education.
If you would like robots to come to your Mason classes, think about joining the Fall 2016 DDLS cohort. Cohorts are forming on both the Loudoun and Fairfax campuses.
