Dr. Julie Aylsworth teaches many courses in the sport management program covering topics such as coaching, global perspectives in sport, and sport marketing and sales. Her primary research interests include aspects of marketing and branding in sport and the role those aspects play in the success or failure of sport organizations. Secondary research includes areas of sport law, and issues relating to emotional intelligence.
Before arriving at George Mason University, Dr. Aylsworth led sport management programs at Wittenberg University and Mount St. Mary’s University. Prior to her academic career, she conducted marketing activities for the Department of Athletics at The Ohio State University. Aylsworth earned her B.S. in Marketing, M.A. in Sport & Exercise Management, and Ph.D. in Sport Management from The Ohio State University. Additionally, she was a 3-time letter-winner and two-time Academic All-Big Ten award winner on the women’s rowing team.
