CEHD Partners with the Council of International Schools
April 17, 2017
The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at George Mason University is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Council of International Schools (CIS). Mason is a Carnegie "highest research activity" (R1) institution that has been delivering quality master’s degree course work and licensure programs to international educators for 25 years. CIS, a global non-profit membership organization, provides services to primary and secondary schools, higher education institutions, and individuals committed to high quality, international education.
The Teaching Culturally, Linguistically Diverse and Exceptional Learners (TCLDEL) program at Mason houses three concentrations specifically targeting teachers who are currently employed in international schools or have the intent to teach in international schools. This includes International Elementary, International ESOL, and Advanced International Baccalaureate (IB) Studies. All programs are fully accredited by CAEP, the U.S. national accrediting body for teacher education programs, and CEHD is an authorized graduate institution for the International Baccalaureate.
The aim of this partnership is to support and guide Mason graduates as they pursue careers in international education, connecting them with CIS member schools and thereby enriching the international community with fresh perspectives and enthusiasm.
This partnership was sealed by Dr. Beverly Shaklee, professor and director of CEHD’s Advanced Professional Teacher Development and International Education division and Pauline O’Brien, director of CIS Career and Recruitment Services.
