Morgan Maravich is Named to Top Ten Next Gens in Group Travel

A 2009 graduate of the Tourism and Events Management program was just named a Top Ten Next Gen for the tourism management industry.

Morgan Maravich graduated cum laude with a bachelor's of science in Health, Fitness and Recreation Resources with a concentration in Tourism and Events Management. She is now a tourism services manager with Destination DC, the non-profit corporation that supports the Washington, DC travel and tourism sector. She also serves as co-chair of the Alumni Chapter for Mason's College of Education and Human Development.

"She's just terrific and an example of how the tourism program yields successful students who go on to have great careers," said Rebekah Dickinson, assistant director for development and alumni relations.

The industry publication Groups Today recognized Morgan Maravich as a "next generation" professional who is making a difference in the group travel industry with her innovative and progressive ideas. Her profile notes that, "Through the eyes of her seventh-grade self, Morgan Maravich fell in love with Washington, D.C. Every year after that initial trip to the nation's capital, her parents gave her the chance to travel from Pittsburgh to the city she loved so she could keep alive her dreams of one day working for the city. She now has her dream job, and couldn't be more excited to share her enthusiasm for Washington."
