Alex Schneider

Alex Schneider and Miranda Cranford are seniors in the Sport Management program, which introduces students to sport marketing, finance, ethics, law, and leadership. One of the program's hallmarks is its focus on providing students with sought-after internships at sports organizations such as the USTA, where students receive real-world exposure to careers in sales, marketing, public relations, operations, and facilities and event management.

The following article is from the USTA Mid-Atlantic website.

Alex Schneider and Miranda Cranford have joined the USTA Mid-Atlantic Section as interns for the summer of 2012. Schneider is a second semester senior at George Mason University where he is majoring in Sport Management. Originally from Miami, Florida, Alex has been a long-time resident of Great Falls, Virginia, and a lifelong athlete. He is eager to learn how the USTA markets itself and how the organization has continued to expand over the past several years.

Schneider is a huge supporter of tennis and is excited to see it grow in the Mid-Atlantic. He has experience managing NFL Play 60 events and running several other sport-related camps. Schneider is a former United States Marine serving tours in several Middle East countries and Africa.

Cranford is also a senior at George Mason University where she is majoring in Sport Management with a concentration in events management. She is a pitcher for the Mason softball team and is from San Diego, California, where she competed for her high school in both softball and tennis.

Cranford is interested in a career in events within the sports industry and is excited to join the USTA where she has an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and experience. Cranford hopes to be involved with the planning and execution of USTA events and tournaments throughout the summer.
