Faculty Incentives and Support
In the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at George Mason University, we believe in providing our faculty with incentives and support to create a motivating work environment that promotes faculty success. Our goal is aligned with our university priorities to invest in our faculty's success and embodies CEHD's commitment to build a culture of collaboration and empowerment.
In CEHD, faculty are supported in many ways, including the following:
- Technology Support: Computers, devices, and software are provided for all faculty to promote productivity and innovation.
- Office and Space Support: Space is used strategically for faculty success and community building.
- Professional Development Funds: Travel funds are provided to support faculty research development and dissemination.
- Graduate Research Assistants: Doctoral students are matched with faculty to support research and grant productivity.
- Mentoring Credits: Credits can be accumulated to recognize effort on doctoral student and master's thesis supervision, which can add up to a course release.
- Start-up Funding: Start-up funding is provided to all new faculty to establish their work when they come to CEHD.
- Faculty Leader Allocations: Incentives are provided to faculty in leadership roles (e.g., course releases, stipends and/or professional development funds).
- Grant Productivity Incentives Incentives are offered to reward high grant activity (e.g., course releases, indirect return to PIs, additional salary savings return to PIs, and CEHD Seed Grants).
