Staff success is more than simply stating that we value our staff. It is ensuring that all staff have the resources, opportunities, and supportive environment to thrive in our college.

Here in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD), we strive to provide our staff with opportunities to grow in their careers by providing professional development funding to attend conferences, take certificate courses, join professional organizations, and more. We also share internal pathways for growth, such as workshops offered by the college or broader university, training on specific applications, peer mentoring, and opportunities for career progression.

Our college has a CEHD Staff Council which meets with the dean once a month to discuss concerns, questions, and matters that affect our CEHD staff. The dean and any relevant stakeholders then address these issues, ensuring that staff voices are incorporated into our college's decision-making. The Council hosts events such as information sessions and a yearly staff award ceremony. The Staff Council also works with the dean and Human Resources to ensure that the needs of all staff are met and to sustain a culture where staff are supported and valued. For questions about the CEHD Staff Council, please reach out to council members at cehdstaff@gmu.edu.
