Dr. Mary V. Kealy

Dr. Mary Kealy is an experienced educator with a career spanning several decades in public and private schools and several universities. She has held several leadership positions including principal, director of special education, director of professional development and assistant superintendent for pupil services during her tenure in NJ and VA. Her key areas of expertise are in inclusive education, leadership and professional learning and school-university partnerships. Throughout her career Dr. Kealy has also served as adjunct professor at several universities developing teachers and leaders in special education and education leadership graduate programs.

With a passion for both international travel and inclusive education, Dr. Kealy has done extensive professional development and consulting work in several countries, including Russia, China and Kuwait, and is currently the President of the Council of Exceptional Children (CEC) Division of International Special Education and Services.

A lifelong member of the CEC, Dr. Kealy has also served for several years on the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) Executive Committee, including her role as President and currently serves on the Research Committee and the Board of Associate Editors of the Journal of Special Education Leadership. She is a recipient of the CASE Harrie Selznick Distinguished Service Award for career-long leadership in the administration of special education programs.

Dr. Kealy is currently Director, Virginia Department of Education Training and Technical Assistance Center at George Mason University, VA, and facilitates professional learning initiatives for administrative and instructional staff in 19 school divisions with a focus on improving outcomes for students with disabilities.
