Mason online education programs earn top spots in U.S. News rankings

The 2023 U.S News & World Report Best Online Programs rankings have just been released and Mason’s College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) online graduate programs are listed among the best in the country in the category of education.

Mason earned a ranking of 11 nationally in the category of “Best online master’s in education program for special education.” Next was the category of “Best online master’s in education, curriculum and instruction” for which Mason received a national ranking of 12.

Other program categories in which Mason secured a high rating was “Best online master’s in education, educational administration and supervision” with a national ranking of 15, and “Best online master’s in education program for veterans” in which Mason ranked No. 18.

In the aggregate, the U.S. News listing ranked Mason No. 52 for “Overall best online master’s in education” program in the country.

In compiling the rankings, U.S. News employed a methodology based on five categories which it describes as follows:

  • Engagement (student opportunities to interact with instructors and classmates)
  • Faculty credentials and training (instructors with academic credentials that mirror those of instructors for campus-based programs)
  • Peer assessment (consisting of a survey of high-ranking academic officials)
  • Services and technologies (programs that incorporate diverse online learning technologies allowing greater flexibility for students to take classes from a distance and strong support structures providing learning assistance, career guidance, and financial aid resources)
  • Student excellence (a capable student body with proven aptitudes and accomplishments)

The success of CEHD in securing these high rankings in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report listings for its online graduate programs in education is a testament to the extraordinary quality of the curriculum and faculty at Mason. Students in these Mason programs graduate with the skills, knowledge, and training they need to have a successful professional career in the field of education.
