School of Recreation, Health, and Tourism - George Mason University

The School of Recreation, Health, and Tourism (SRHT) offers exciting, career-ready majors in dynamic fields such as athletic training, tourism and events management, health and physical education, kinesiology, sport management, and recreation management. SRHT features renowned faculty, cutting-edge research, six laboratories and centers, and a diverse student body of more than 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students each year. Each major requires one or more internship or clinical experiences, ensuring that students graduate not just with a transcript but with a resume that demonstrates their professional aptitude and skills.

This application is for the 2017-2018 academic year.

To be considered for an assistantship, a student must have a completed application on file and be admitted into a University program. Students must be in good academic standing and maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA. Additional information may be requested.

Please note that applicants must be available for 10 hours (part-time) or 20 hours (full-time) per week for designated assignments.

Recipients must take a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester. (Exception: students who need less than 6 hours to complete their degrees and graduate.) Enrollment is monitored by the CEHD Dean's Office after the last schedule adjustment day each semester.

Admissions applications, academic transcripts, undergraduate and graduate GPAs, references, standardized test scores (if taken), and honors and awards will be used as the primary sources of information in determining awards. Recipients of CEHD assistantships, both new and continuing students, are selected primarily on the basis of academic merit.
