On May 13, 2025, George Mason University’s College of Education and Human Development community showed up in full force for an evening of generosity, connection, and spirited bidding during the School for Sport, Recreation, and Tourism Management (SRTM) silent auction. This event was hosted by adjunct faculty member Frank Kuhns at the Settle Down Easy Oakton Tasting Room and raised over $5,000, exceeding goals and reaffirming our shared dedication to student success.

Throughout the evening, bidders savored delicious food and enjoyed great conversation before competing for an exciting range of items—including unique George Mason athletics experiences, spa packages, a private dinner and beer pairing, exclusive sports memorabilia, tickets to various Washington, D.C. sporting events, golf outings, and skydiving and adventure experiences, to name a few. The enthusiastic participation created an atmosphere filled with energy and fun, all in support of a meaningful cause.

The funds raised from the auction directly contribute to bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world success for SRTM students by funding vital opportunities like stipends for unpaid internships, sending students to industry conferences, and professional development events. These opportunities will provide hands-on learning, expose SRTM students to industry trends, and allow them to build real-world connections that can shape their future careers. These initiatives help our students enhance their employability, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and stay ahead of the curve in their field.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, bid, and helped spread the word. Thanks to your support, SRTM students will gain access to experiences that improve their career readiness, expand their networks, and set them up for long-term success. Together, we've made a real impact on the future of our students—and had a lot of fun along the way. We hope you will join us next year!
