A chronological survey of the development of English from Old and Middle English to Modern English and American English, taking into account historical changes in phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics.Offered by English. Equivalent to LING 534.

Enrollment limited to students with a class of Advanced to Candidacy, Graduate, Junior Plus, Non-Degree or Senior Plus.
Students in a Non-Degree Undergraduate degree may not enroll.
