As the academic advisor for Elementary Education (ELED), Valerie supports all of the graduate and undergraduate students in the program from orientation through graduation. She has experience as a fourth grade teacher and over 15 years of experience in higher education which includes academic advising at both Mason and Northern Virginia Community College. She especially enjoys supporting the ELED Student Ambassadors, helping transfer students navigate their transition to Mason, and assisting first-year students with their adjustment from high school to college. In 2024 Valerie was awarded the V. Ann Lewis Academic Advisor of the Year Award. Valerie holds an MA in English from George Mason University and a BA in English from Benedictine College.
