Description:

Introduction to second language acquisition theory and research, and the application to teaching Spanish as a second language and a heritage language. Includes a discussion of sociocultural and political issues surrounding the teaching of Spanish in the United States. Covers learning objectives, critical pedagogy, course design, grammar instruction, task-based language teaching, computer-assisted language learning, materials evaluation, and assessment.Offered by Modern & Classical Languages. Limited to three attempts.
Recommended Prerequisite: SPAN 385, or permission of instructor.
