SOCI 309: Contemporary Families and Intimate Relationships

Uses a sociological framework to analyze and understand the diverse forms of contemporary families--traditional marriages, cohabitation, domestic partnerships, single-parents families, stepfamilies, and gay and lesbian families. Explored are topics such as changes in sexual mores, reflected in new dating practices; shifting parenting roles; effects of social class, race and ethnicity; and the outcomes of divorce for couples and children.Offered by Sociology & Anthropology.
