General Information

Credits: 1-6

Description:

Professional work experience for Mathematics MS and PhD candidates working in education, industry and government laboratories, including summer programs. Students looking for expe- riential credit in mathematics teaching may also use this course. Supervision and approval of this course must be arranged with the department before registering. Notes: Credit will be assigned based on the number of hours participating in the internship: 1 Credit for every 45 hours of internship work. At least one substantive piece of work will be assessed for each semester of internship. Students may take up to 6 internship credits per semester. Up to 3 credits may be used toward the MS degree in mathematics; a maximum of 6 credits may be used toward the PhD degree in mathematics. Offered by Mathematics. May be repeated within the degree for a maximum 6 credits.
Recommended Prerequisite: A grade of 'B' or better in four core courses (including MATH 675), and permission of the internship coordinator.
Registration Restrictions:

Required Prerequisite: MATH 675B.
B Requires minimum grade of B.

Enrollment limited to students with a class of Advanced to Candidacy, Graduate, Junior Plus, Non-Degree or Senior Plus.

Enrollment is limited to students with a major in Mathematics.

Enrollment limited to students in a Doctor of Philosophy or Master of Science degrees.
