Description:
Traces how empires, revolutions, and resistance movements have shaped one of the world’s most dynamic regions. Examines how power, culture, and colonialism intersected to produce modern South Asia from the Mughal Empire to the twenty-first-century nation-states of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. Students will critically analyze historical narratives, debate the legacies of empire, and connect historical debates to current issues—from nationalism and religion to art, gender, and global exchange. Offered by History & Art History. Limited to three attempts.
