The Virginia CEEDAR team was started in 2021, and George Mason was invited to be one of three universities to begin the work. Currently, members involved include the Virginia Department of Education, ten university educator preparation programs, three local education agencies, four Virginia Training Technical and Assistance Centers, and one professional organization.

The Virginia-CEEDAR Misson

To advance educator preparation and practice and expand the educator workforce to improve outcomes for all students, including students with disabilities, through sustained collaboration among state, divisions, university, and community partners.

The Virginia-CEEDAR Vision

Every student thrives in inclusive, high-quality learning environments.

What We Do

The CEHD CEEDAR team worked collaboratively to gather and analyze program data related to High-Leverage Practices (HLPs) and used findings to inform curriculum mapping, program discussions, and continuous improvement efforts. In addition, the team analyzed course syllabi, administered and analyzed program stakeholder surveys to prioritize HLPs, engaged in course mapping efforts, and facilitated faculty meetings focused on reviewing data and refining program practices. Additionally, the team also contributed to state-wide CEEDAR efforts with colleagues from across Virginia. These efforts reflect the team’s commitment to ensuring that teacher and leader candidates possess a strong understanding of special education, embrace inclusive practices, and are prepared to implement high-leverage instructional strategies effectively.
