EdPolicyForward: the Center for Education Policy at George Mason University will hold its first research workshop of the Fall 2026 semester with Dr. Bethany Letiecq.
Dr. Letiecq is a professor in the College of Education and Human Development, specializing in the utilization of family-centered, community-based participatory action research approaches, anti-racist research methods, and mixed method designs (e.g., qualitative and quantitative methods) in partnership with minoritized and marginalized families. Her research focuses on state-sanctioned inequities and administrative burdens experienced by nontraditional families, including mixed-status immigrant families, LGBTQ+ families, cohabiting couples, and single-parent headed families.
The title of Dr. Letiecq’s talk is Families at the Nexus of Law, Policy, and Inequality: Central American Mothers’ Stories of Intersecting Oppressions and Pursuit of a Better Life.
