Where are you from?
Fairfax, VA
Why did you decide to become an elementary teacher?
When I was little, I used to play teacher all the time with my family. It was so much fun, and I really liked being able to pretend to be a teacher. Another thing is my favorite teacher of all was my 4th grade teacher, and from that moment I knew I was meant to be a teacher.
Why did you choose to study Elementary Education at Mason?
I chose to study elementary education at Mason because I heard wonderful things about the program. Plus, by studying elementary education at Mason, I can work in the same school district I attended for K-12. I knew that I wanted to stay close to home when I went to college and that is why Mason was a great fit for me.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy being able to sit down and read a good book. Also, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. However, my favorite thing I like to do in my free time is being with my dog Lily. She is the best dog ever.
What advice would you give to the students who are just starting the ELED program?
My biggest piece of advice is to ask questions. This is something I wish I did from the beginning of the program because it has helped me so much. During the time in the program, you are going to be learning so much about who you want to be as a teacher. So, I cannot advise enough to ask your professors and mentor teacher questions. It will be so helpful in the long run!
