Join University Life (UL) in Johnson Center, Room D on Thursday, February 12 for a UL Threat Evaluation and Reporting Overview (TERO) Training. This session is an introductory training with the primary sources being a collection of publications from contemporary peer-reviewed scientific literature and federal agencies involved in the prevention of targeted violence.

The UL TERO session is intended for all campus community members to support the identifying threats or observable behaviors that may concern others. The course covers a variety of topics including targeted violence, behavioral threat assessment and management, and how to recognize the warning sings. The session emphasizes the importance of community involvement and raises awareness about the behavioral approach to violence prevention.

At the conclusion of this presentation participants will be able to:

  • Identify threats or observable behaviors that may concern others
  • Expand awareness about targeted violence and behavioral threat assessment and management
  • Identify channels to report the warning signs
  • Understand the resources available to get involved and keep communities safe

The event will be presented by John Cicchetti, Ph.D. who serves as the Director of Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management and Co-Chair of the Threat Assessment Team at George Mason University. He holds a Ph.D. in Education with a concentration in Higher Education. He is a National Threat Evaluation and Reporting Certified Master Trainer through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He previously led a diverse team of case managers, overseeing all non-clinical case management activity at a large, public, research university.
