As part of a joint venture between EDRD 831: Theory, Research, and Practice in Adolescent and Adult Literacy and the Sturtevant Center for Literacy, CEHD faculty and doctoral students are invited to a virtual, interactive presentation and discussion with Kathleen Hinchman on February 10 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. via Zoom. Hinchman will discuss her research and teaching on disciplinary literacy with adolescents and adults.

About the Speaker
Kathleen Hinchman is Professor Emeritus of Education at Syracuse University and a nationally recognized scholar in literacy education. Her research focuses on adolescent literacy, disciplinary literacy, and literacy teacher education, with particular attention to students’ and teachers’ perspectives on literacy instruction. Hinchman has published numerous articles and texts in leading journals including Reading Research Quarterly, Journal of Literacy Research, Language Arts, and the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy. She has served as Co-Editor of the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy and has held national leadership roles as President of the Literacy Research Association and the New York State Reading Association.
