The consumer finance website WalletHub includes an article on the winter 2015 travel season, with insights from hospitality and tourism experts from universities across the country.

The article includes an economic outlook from Maggie Daniels, a professor in the School of Recreation, Health, and Tourism at George Mason University. She also provides logistical tips for winter travel.

Dr. Daniels is the academic program coordinator for the Tourism and Events Management program within the College of Education and Human Development.

From the article:

The outlook for the winter travel season is particularly promising for two reasons:

...Significantly, tourism spending increases have been meeting or exceeding those of the U.S. economy as a whole, showcasing the robust nature of tourism-related sectors.

…Presidential election years engender feelings of anticipation and political messages are designed to bolster confidence. This emotional mixture can promote spending generally and therefore positively impact tourism sectors.
