Mathematics Education Center - George Mason University

The mission of the Mathematics Education Center (MEC) is to lead innovative efforts, partnerships and research that engages a broad community in mathematics teaching and learning in both formal and informal settings. It is our mission to engage in research and practice that highlights how mathematics and mathematics education can improve not only teaching and learning, but also larger social conditions. Most importantly, the partnerships formed with teachers, students, formal and informal leaders, as well as members of the community shape and drive our work. As such, we have identified “math for the common good” as a guiding principle for this work.
