The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at George Mason University is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Council of International Schools (CIS). Mason is a Carnegie "highest research activity" (R1) institution that has been delivering quality master’s degree course work and licensure programs to international educators for 25 years. CIS, a global non-profit membership organization, provides services to primary and secondary schools, higher education institutions, and individuals committed to high quality, international education. Education Leadership Online Orientation Program Earns Recognition from Online Learning Consortium

An orientation program for an online master’s degree in Education Leadership was recently recognized with an Effective Practice Award from the Online Learning Consortium (OLC). Sarah Nagro Receives 2017 AACTE Outstanding Dissertation Award

The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) honored Dr.Sarah Nagro, assistant professor of special education in the College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University, with the 2017 AACTE Outstanding Dissertation Award for her study, The Effects of Guided Video Analysis on Teacher Candidates' Reflective Ability and Instructional Skills. CEHD Hosts Pakistani Faculty as Part of State Department Grant

Twenty faculty from the University of Management and Technology (UMT) in Lahore, Pakistan, are visiting George Mason University. The purpose of the visit, scheduled from September 17 to October 2, is to participate in professional development seminars and to meet with Mason faculty in their respective disciplines. In Memoriam: Mark Spikell, Prominent Mathematics Education Scholar and Mason Professor

The George Mason University community is saddened to note the death of Mark Aaron Spikell, who served as a visionary faculty member in the Graduate School of Education for 25 years prior to his retirement in 2004, when he was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus of Education. Spikell passed away on August 12, 2016, at the age of 75 in his apartment at Sunrise Assisted Living in Fairfax, Virginia. Read more...
