Educators Rising Collegiate Announces Fall Plans

Educators Rising Collegiate is a student organization for undergraduate students dedicated to the issues that educators are facing today. Educators Rising Collegiate aims to connect students to individuals throughout Mason, local school educators, and members associated with PDK International.
Cedric Price, President of the Mason chapter of Educators Rising Collegiate, shares the organization’s plans for the fall semester and how you can get involved below:

Hello everyone,

Wow, a new school year is here! While it won’t be a normal year, know that it will still be one that we can make the most of. On behalf of the executive board, I wanted to provide a welcome followed by a few updates for our organization.

For the Fall 2020 semester, our chapter will host all functions virtually. Our general body meetings and events will be held through Zoom and Instagram Live (select events). Links for specific meetings/events will be provided closer to the date. The set dates and times for general body meetings are as follows:

  • September 10 at 7:30 pm
  • October 8 at 7:30 pm
  • November 12 at 7:30 pm
  • December 3 at 7:30 pm
  • Try and bring a friend to our meetings! Zoom links will be provided via email and through our social media platforms!

We have implemented a few NEW features for our club. One of them is that all members will have the opportunity to be a part of one of our two NEW committees: On-Campus Affairs or Fairfax & Beyond. More about these committees will be shared at our first meeting. Our organization also has expanded its social media presence. Follow our pages to stay connected!

Our secretary, Alexandria Smith, will soon begin sending out bi-weekly emails. This will keep all members up to date about what’s going on, remind you about things to come, and simply share valuable resources. We also have a NEW event that we’re launching called Conversations! This is a bi-monthly/monthly Instagram LIVE event where we’ll have the opportunity to talk with a variety of educators and leaders, at Mason and beyond. We’re already booking some great speakers. Stay tuned for this, you’re going to love it!

Finally, I have one more note. The executive board is working to make sure that this upcoming year is one that is of much value to you, your Mason experience, and your future as rising educators. With that, we’re rallying around a NEW guiding question that is sure to be of much discussion this entire year; how many students will we impact? Members of this chapter will learn the importance of making the impact numerically, at-large, and effectively and gain the resources to have this as a consistent question even when in your careers. Stay tuned for more!

All the best,

Cedric Price
