Harvard Educational Review: The Maker Movement in Education

February 2, 2015

Kimberly Sheridan

The Harvard Educational Review's just-published Winter 2014 issue includes an essay co-written by Kimberly Sheridan, associate professor in the College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University, and her colleague Erica Halverson of the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

The article is called "The Maker Movement in Education." From the abstract:

"The authors consider the emerging role of making in education. They present points of tension between making and formal education practices as they come into contact with one another, exploring whether the newness attributed to the maker movement is really all that new and reflecting on its potential pedagogical impacts on teaching and learning."
