Washington Post Article Features New Principal, Peter Balas

The Washington Post on Tuesday published an upbeat article about Peter Balas, the new principal of an Alexandria elementary school and an award-winning graduate of CEHD.
The article and photo feature described the challenges and optimism surrounding Balas's appointment as the principal of Mount Vernon Community School, a school marked for "transformation."

Balas is a graduate of two programs at Mason's College of Education and Human Development, the Education Leadership program and the Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning (ASTL) program. "Peter is an outstanding educator," said Rebecca Fox, associate professor of education. "He was the ASTL program award winner the year he graduated and has continued to do incredible work with students."
