College of Education and Human Development

Joan Packer Isenberg Endowed Scholarship

November 2, 2010

It goes without saying that the College of Education and Human Development is a special place. One of the attributes that truly makes the college an exemplar is the commitment and dedication of the people who work here.

Joan Isenberg

There is no better example of dedication and commitment to the college than Dr. Joan Isenberg. With more than thirty-two years of service to the college, she has been influential in the lives of thousands of students and provided mentorship to numerous colleagues. Throughout the years as the college grew and changed, Joan has been a consistent and ardent supporter.

Even now as Joan prepares for retirement, she continues to give to the college and its students. She is establishing an endowed scholarship, the Joan Packer Isenberg Endowed Scholarship, to benefit a student in the Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning program. With very few endowed scholarships in the college, this gift is highly significant.

We are asking you to consider making a gift of $50 in honor of Joan's longtime association with the college and in recognition of the many contributions she has made during her tenure. If a gift at this level is not possible, a gift of any amount will be appreciated.

Gifts can be made by check (made payable to the George Mason University Foundation, Inc. —GMUF, Inc.). Please note in the memo section that the gift is to be designated to the Joan Packer Isenberg Endowed Scholarship. You can send or hand-deliver your gift to Gail Haller in the Dean's Office. Or, if you prefer, make your gift online. If you select “Other Established Fund” and include the name of the scholarship in the box provided it will ensure your gift is credited properly.

Joan's retirement ceremony will be held on Monday, December 6 after the GSE faculty meeting. Dean Ginsberg will make a presentation and we would like to announce the total dollars raised at that time, so please consider making your gift by 12 noon on December 6.

Respectfully,

Rebecca Fox, PhD and Steve White, PhD
