Cohort Program
Studies indicate that cohort programs enrich members’ learning experiences as well as provide social and emotional support.
The Early Childhood Special Education Cohort (ECSE) program is designed for the working professional. With a cohort structure, the same group of students begins, proceeds through, and completes the program together. Cohorts are inherently designed to focus on the needs of the graduate student because the environment is a shared learning experience. In other words, each member of the cohort is seen as the teacher and learner, actively participates in discussions and learning activities, and is encouraged to support everyone’s contributions to the group.
As a member of the cohort, you will find that while your program primarily mirrors that of an on-campus student, payment and registration procedures diverge from standard university processes and schedules. Because cohort calendars do not follow standard university dates, cohort students should refer to the cohort site for policies on adding and dropping courses as well as payment policies. Refer to university, college and program resources for information relative to your program other than registration and payment.

Continuing Cohort Students:
Cohort registrations are done for you, after you opt in through a Qualtrics Survey. Completing this registration process creates a binding registration request. Your registration request needs to be completed every semester. Pre-registration well in advance of the course start date is strongly recommended and will be sent out a couple months before the semester starts.

Drop Requests follow the University Guidelines. Please email Anna Rambow to drop the course within the specified semester timeframe.

If you do not complete internship and instead choose to substitute a year of lead teacher teaching in your licensure application, you will complete the non-licensure MEd. Internship is in your last semester of classes; you don’t need to make a decision right away. |
