CREST Summer Science Camps

Registration for the public is not available this summer.

The CREST summer science camps offer engaging and unique opportunities for campers to have fun discovering science in the world around them. Since 1997 the CREST faculty and staff have offered quality, hands-on inquiry-based science camps for CHILDREN ENTERING GRADES FIVE THROUGH SEVEN. Young scientists investigate exciting topics about science and technology using similar techniques used by scientists.

Early registration is recommended as this program historically fills early. All camps are held at the George Mason University Fairfax campus.

Camp curriculum is designed each summer by teams of graduate students from science and education to support campers' extended study of relevant science topics. Emphasis is on problem-based learning and student-centered inquiry. At the beginning of camp students are presented with a problem that they will solve. Camp lessons build on one another each day to support problem solving and the best learning possible. Virginia Legislator Ted Bennett presented CREST with the Virginia Mathematics and Science Coalition 2008 Programs That Work Award for its science camps.
