Frequently Asked Questions

How can I make a gift to support the College of Education and Human Development?

Gifts to the college can be made in a variety of ways. You can make a gift or establish a recurring pledge online via credit card. You can also mail a check, made payable to George Mason University Foundation Inc., to 4400 University Drive, MS 2F1 Fairfax, VA 22030. Still not sure how to get your gift to us? Feel free to contact Lindsey Campbell, Assistant Director of Development at 703-993-5210 or lcampbe1@gmu.edu.

What is the Dean's Excellence Fund?

The Dean's Excellence Fund raises much-needed funds that support the CEHD's operating budget. We rely on an annual flow of unrestricted gifts to support our students and fulfill our mission.

Why is the Dean's Excellence Fund important to CEHD?

The cost of a CEHD education is not fully covered by tuition. Without the Fund and other revenue, tuition would actually be much more. The remaining expenses after tuition are subsidized generous gifts from CEHD's alumni and supporters.

What if I can only give $50 annually?

While you might think a gift of $50 or $100 is modest, it is the cumulative effect of annual donations that allows us to fulfill CEHD's mission.

Think of it this way. If every CEHD alumnus/a contributed $50 to the Dean's Excellence Fund each year, we would benefit from $1,000,000 in annual support!

What are Corporate Matching Gifts?

Please click here to understand the value of match gifts... and see if your (or your spouse's) company will match - and therefore double - your donation!

I could give more if I could pay over time. Can I do that?

Yes, that is called a "pledge" and as long as you pay your pledge amount by the end of our fiscal year (June 30), your gift is counted toward our annual needs.

What is the George Mason University Foundation Inc. administrative fee policy?

A 6 percent administrative fee applies to all restricted/current use gifts to the Foundation to support the programs of George Mason University. Endowment gifts are exempt from transaction fees at the time of the gift. Alternatively, endowments are charged an annual management fee of 1.25 percent on the average market value of the endowment. Administrative fees support future advancement initiatives and the Foundation in its commitment to provide the necessary infrastructure to enable our donors to support Mason programs that are important to them.
