Profile

Dr. Dzama is an Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction with a specialty in Reading. Her educational background consists of a B.A. in Biology, M.Ed.with a specialty in Special Education and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction: Reading. Her current teaching assignments are teaching undergraduate and graduate reading courses and supervising student interns within the Special Education and UTEEM Programs (the Graduate School of Education) at George Mason University. She has served as the Reading Program Coordinator, the Director of the Educational & Counseling Services, teaching the graduate reading courses and served as a student teacher supervisor for the Elementary and Secondary Education majors. Additionally, Dr. Dzama served as the Director of the Northern Virginia Consortium Area I of the Virginia Reading To Learn Project from 1985 through 1995 and a member of the Literacy and Teacher Training Mission-- People To People delegation to Moscow, Russia and Budapest, Hungry in 1992. Her research interests involves literacy (authentic and informal assessment, working with parents in the literacy training of their children (K-12) and professional development for K-12 in-service teachers. She does editorial reviews for professional publishing companies by reviewing manuscripts, revision editions and prospectus chapters.
