Dr. Razeghi is an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Education at George Mason University. She is also Professor-in-charge of Alternative Education and has served as the Coordinator of Special Education. In addition, she is the co-coordinator of the Mason Dream-Catchers Mentor Program that is a partnership with Fairfax County Public Schools. Dream-Catchers targets eligible at-risk students in the three FCPS alternative education high schools.
Dr. Razeghi received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Social Studies at Malone College, Canton, Ohio, her Master of Arts in Special Vocational Education at The George Washington University, and her Doctorate in Education in Special Education also from The George Washington University. Prior to joining the faculty at George Mason University, she was Director of Special Education for Alexandria City Public Schools. Dr. Razeghi has also been Supervisor of Program Management and Fiscal Control (Special Education) for Prince William County Public Schools, as well as the Vocational Curriculum Specialist for the Department of Student Services and Special Eduction for Fairfax County Public Schools. In addition, she has been the Director of Education for a national coalition of over 250 disability rights groups in Washington, D. C., and has extensive experience teaching in several public schools system.
Dr. Razeghi's research, publications, and grants have all focused on such areas as (1) alternative education for at-risk students and (2) preparing students with disabilities for employment and independent living in the community. She has been the assistant editor of the Journal of Vocational Special Needs Personnel, is active in the Council of Exceptional Children (CEC), has presented at numerous national conferences, and is the past president, as well as the Executive Director of the National Division on Career Development and Transition (DCDT) of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). She is also the President of the Virginia Alternative Educators Assocation (VAEA 2003 - 2004).
Dr. Razeghi enjoys conference planning and has served on many national and state program planning committees, including CEC's in 2002 and 2003. Of note is that she was the program chair for the Council of Exceptional Children's very first regional conference on Transition held in Boston. Currently, she is very active in the Virginia Council of Administrators of Special Education and has served as their Executive Secretary since 1995.
