Profile

Dr. Dunklee completed his Ph.D in Education Administration and Foundations at Kansas State University in 1985. In that same year he completed 25 years of public school service including 17 years as an administrator at the elementary, junior high/middle, senior high, and central office levels. Dr. Dunklee joined the faculty in the Graduate School of Education at George Mason University in 1986.

While Dr. Dunklee has taught a number of different courses in the Education Leadership Program, his primary teaching emphasis is in the areas of school law, school business management, and school administration. Dr. Dunklee advises both masters and doctoral students.

Dr. Dunklee is a nationally recognized expert in the area of school law and risk management and has published five books, 13 monographs, and 28 articles in professional journals. He maintains an ongoing in-service program for schools and school districts and an active publication and in-service collaboration with other professionals in the field. Dr. Dunklee regularly serves as a consultant and/or expert witness in school-related litigation.

Dr. Dunklee maintains active membership in many professional organizations and has served, or is currently serving, as: Chair, Education Leadership Department; Member, University Senate; Member, GSE Management Council; Chair, University Facilities and Support Services Committee; Chair, GSE Program Development and Evaluation Team; Chair, Faculty Rights and Responsibilities Committee; Chair, Northern Virginia Superintendent's Advisory Council.

Dr. Dunklee was the Graduate School of Education's 1999 nominee for the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia's Outstanding Faculty Award.
