Dr. Waddell’s professional pursuits focus on sport performance enhancement through social psychological interventions. She has consulted with athletes and coaches on anxiety management, goal setting, imagery training, motivation, and team cohesion. She has conducted research on the effects of imagery and sport optimism on sport performance. Her research interests emphasize the use of positive psychology in sport. She has also developed programs to enhance girls’ perceptions of physical self-concept and sport competence. Dr. Waddell is a member of the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), and American Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD).
