Profile

Courtney Fletcher is an Assistant Professor in the Education Leadership Program at George Mason University.  He teaches and advises students who are working toward the master’s degree in Educational Leadership, students who are pursuing a Virginia Principal’s License, and he supervises administrative internships.  He teaches in both the campus and cohort programs.

 

Fletcher spent over 30 years as a k-12 educator with the District of Columbia Public School System.  Twenty-one of those years were in school leadership. During his tenure, he served as mentor and “trouble shooting principal” for his school district in addition to serving as a demonstration principal for the U.S. Department of Education and The George Washington University.  He was a Washington Post Leadership Fellow and was named “teacher of the year” for three consecutive years.

 

Fletcher is a perennial educator.  He has served as a keynote speaker and presenter in an array of forums, ranging from national conferences to local professional developments. He is a certified Haberman Star Teacher Evaluator and National Association of Secondary School’s Skills Assessor.  Fletcher has completed the National Superintendents’ Academy and is a trained assessor for the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium.  In addition, he holds a certificate of completion from Harvard University Institute on Leadership and the New Technologies.
