Two CEHD Faculty Receive George Mason University's 2012 Teaching Excellence Award

Margaret Daniels and Yoosun Chung are among eight recipients of the 2012 Teaching Excellence Award from George Mason University. The prestigious award honors outstanding faculty.
The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) is proud of the accomplishments of its recipients -- Margaret Daniels, associate professor in the School of Recreation, Health, and Tourism, and Yoosun Chung, assistant professor in the Graduate School of Education. This is the fifth year in a row in which CEHD faculty have received the Teaching Excellence Award.
Daniels has conducted extensive fieldwork in the areas of tourism policy and event management, and is currently the lead investigator on a series of collaborative studies with the National Park Service regarding the National Mall and Memorial Parks Management Plan. She received her doctoral degree from Clemson University, a master's degree from the University of Georgia, and a bachelor's degree from Miami University of Ohio.
Chung, who was also tapped for a “Teaching with Technology†recognition, focuses on special education, particularly as it concerns individuals who use augmentative and alternative communication devices. She received her doctoral degree from George Mason University, a master's degree from Cornell University in computer science, and a bachelor's degree from George Mason University in computer science.
In addition, two CEHD faculty members, Erin Peters Burton and Jennifer Suh, were honored as Teachers of Distinction — finalists for the Teaching Excellence Award who are recognized across campus for their exceptional teaching and their commitment to teaching-related activities.
The awards, presented by the Office of the Provost and the Center for Teaching Excellence, celebrate Mason faculty's continued dedication to student learning. A ceremony will be held on Monday, April 9, from 3:30 pm-5:00 pm at George Mason University's Center for the Arts.
