Mason's 2013 Team Excellence Award Goes to the S.M.A.R.T. Lab Team

Congratulations to the S.M.A.R.T. Lab team, winner of the 2013 Team Excellence Award from George Mason University!

The award is given annually to a group that demonstrates excellence in collaborating with other groups and departments, in expanding and disseminating knowledge, in community outreach, and other positive results.

This year's award recognizes the following faculty members from the School of Recreation, Health, and Tourism:

  • Jatin Ambegoankar, associate professor and academic program coordinator for the Exercise, Fitness, and Health Promotion program, and co-director of the S.M.A.R.T. Lab

  • Charlie Robinson, assistant professor

  • Joel Martin, assistant professor

  • Margaret Jones, associate professor and academic program coordinator for the Kinesiology program

  • Amanda Caswell, assistant professor and academic program coordinator for the Athletic Training Education program

  • Nelson Cortes, assistant professor

  • Shane Caswell, associate professor and co-director of the S.M.A.R.T. Lab

The awards ceremony is scheduled for October 16, 2013 at 10 am in Dewberry Hall of the Johnson Center.

The team dedicated to the S.M.A.R.T.  (Sports Medicine Assessment Research & Testing) Laboratory has long been emblematic of the entrepreneurial and collegial spirit of George Mason University. 

The lab is part of the School of Recreation, Health, and Tourism in the College of Education and Human Development. It consists of three state-of-the art facilities where faculty and students conduct evidence-based research in the areas of injury prevention, lower extremity neuromechanical assessment, traumatic brain injury (TBI) concussions, youth sport, and sports performance.
