David Verburg Wins Gold at World Athletics Championships in Moscow

August 28, 2013

David Verburg, a senior majoring in Sport Management, ran the lead leg in Team USA's gold medal win of the Men's 4x400 meters final in Moscow.

The young team, with an average age of only 23-years-old, ran the finals in the 14th IAAF World Athletics Championships at Luzhniki Stadium on August 16. David brought his team to the exchange even with the rest of the field. The IAAF report on the race noted: "United States took control of the men’s 4x400m final from the start of the race with their opener David Verburg bringing the baton to the first exchange in pole position."

Some terrific photos of David Verburg during and after the event are at zimbio.com. Congratulations on a great race!
