The Virginia Teaching Scholarship Loan Program provides loans for teacher preparation in critical shortage areas: earth science, mathematics, special education, career and technical education, history and social science, elementary education, health and physical education, reading specialists, English as a second language, and computer science; men enrolled in elementary and middle school programs, and minorities in all teaching areas. Scholarship loans may be canceled for recipients who receive a teaching license and teach full-time two years at the Prek-12 level in a designated shortage area in the public schools of Virginia. Information and applications are distributed through the GSE Office of Student and Faculty Services each Spring.
