Welcome to the Online Teacher Endorsement Website

Thank you for your interest in the state approved licensure programs at George Mason University!

The purpose of this website is to facilitate the collection, tracking, approval and review of course work that meets the Virginia Department of Education requirements for many state approved licensure programs. Students enter information about the courses they have taken that meet specific endorsement criteria in the applicable subject areas. The George Mason University licensure specialist will review each course and indicate if the course work is approved for endorsement. Students may login periodically to check on their endorsement progress, update endorsement information and request an endorsement review.

The following programs will require an endorsement review for purposes of admission:

  • Secondary Education(History/Social Sciences, English,Science,Mathematics)
  • Elementary Education
  • FAST TRAIN Elementary Education

Note: Although not required for admission, master's applicants interested in pursuing licensure are urged to complete an endorsement review for Early Childhood Education for Diverse Learners as early as possible. An endorsement review is required to add a secondary certificate Early Childhood Elementary licensure program.

Students transferring from NVCC should put the course as it appears on their NOVA transcript. All students will need to provide the endorsement office with a copy of all of their transcripts from transferring institutions.

Applicants who want to teach Foreign Language should review the information at: http://gse.gmu.edu/programs/foreignlang/admissions/and contact Program Office Manager, Stephanie Turner, at sszkutak@gmu.edu or 703-993-9424

This internal review is used solely as a component of our programs. If you choose not to complete our program, transfer to another program, or attempt to become hired under provisional licensure, you will be subject to a new review by that college, university, school division or by the Virginia Department of Education.
