Description: Explores major issues controversial in language pedagogy. Topics include communicative competence as pedagogical goal, role of explicit grammar teaching, proficiency movement, cultural authenticity, student-centered learning, and technology.

Prerequisites
Graduate standing or permission of department, language teaching methods course, and language teaching experience; or permission of instructor.
